Yes they are hens and have already given us our Easter Eggs. Three a day since Sunday!
I will now have to do my best to enjoy quiche, as I expect it will soon feature regularly on the family menu.

We have given ‘the girls’ names - Massala, Tikka and Piri Piri and they seem to like them.
After keeping them in their Egloo for a few days, they now follow me around the garden in the hope that I will start digging the vegetable patch where they can feast on any unfortunate bug or worm that shows itself.

I am for ever amazed at the egg and regard it as the most beautifully designed piece of packaging I know.

We have even used the egg as visual icon on some of our company’s promotional material.

As a great deal of our work at Cartwright Design is creating graphic images for food and drink packaging we are more and more concious of the problems involved in producing eco friendly packaging for products which also have the maximum impact at point of sale.

The main barrier is that clients have to rely on existing proven packaging and machinery configurations for their products. The smaller producers and’ start ups’ are not able to be innovative in their choice of packaging materials due to the economics of production and new concepts in packaging design can be prohibitive with regard to cost.

Only the market leaders can invest in ground breaking conceptual containers.

The product itself has to be of high quality to sell long term, but it is of premier importance that new products are given maximum impact at point of sale. If they do not tempt the consumer into trying them they die a quick death and are de-listed in no time, wasting all the time and effort put in developing the product.

So for me nothing compares better than the egg for packaged quality. It is pleasing both to the eye and to eat. It can be consumed on its own or made into many dishes as an essential ingredient in thousands of recipes.

EGGS-ALENT!

Long live the egg!! -and Massala,Tikka and Piri Piri

Have a great Easter

Chris
